About Julie
Julie Claire’s work explores the emotional architecture of women’s lives, the hidden dramas of elite equestrian sport, and the deep bond between humans and animals. She writes for The Globe and Mail and numerous publications across Canada and the United States.
When she’s not writing, Julie can be found walking her dog, shoveling snow, or riding—usually a mare with opinions.
She holds a B.A. in English and a M.Sc in Rehabilitation Medicine from the University of Alberta. She’s a member of the Canadian Association of Journalists and the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists. She is a Governor General’s Medal Winner.
She lives in Calgary with her two sons.
